Saddle Making

Len 'Peanut' Babb (Paisley) is a working cowboy and 3rd-generation saddle maker. Babb works with leather to make saddles, reins, and other traditional gear. He has made nearly 600 saddles, as well as wire and beeswax sculptures of cowboys and horses.

Bio

As a working cowboy himself, Len Babb III, also known as 'Peanut,' knows what a saddle is supposed to feel like and how it should work. He learned the skills from his grandfather and father, Len Babb I and II, who started the Len Babb Saddle Company. Babb worked for his father, making saddles together until his father semi-retired, and Peanut bought the business. Together, they’ve made over 560 saddles. Babb works in traditional ways with traditional hand tools. He uses leather and custom-made saddle trees to craft custom saddlery, reins, and other western gear. Babb also still occasionally works as a cowboy. In addition to making saddles, Babb also makes other western art, including wire and beeswax sculptures of cowboys, horses, and such.
