Ross Westgate is an experienced gunsmith who specializes in handmade muzzleloaders. This type of gun has been in existence for hundreds of years and has always been in use and popularity. Westgate builds them in the same style and using the same technology as historical ones. After using a muzzleloader for hunting, Westgate began building them and getting involved in black powder groups. To date, he has made 80 muzzleloaders. He also makes handmade arrows, quivers, and powder horns. Westgate’s exquisite craftsmanship involves inlays with horn carving. Each gun is made from a single piece of wood and he makes all of the gun parts, from the metal and ignition to the trigger. Each is a work of art. The accuracy of the gun, Ross says, is phenomenal.
