Sridharini Sridharan (Hillsboro) started dancing at the age of 7 and had her “arangetram” (a debut performance that symbolizes the end of her apprenticeship and the beginning of her professional mastery) at the age of 12 in the presence of the doyen of Bharatanatyam - Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam. Sridharan founded her dance school, Kalashiksha in 2016, where she teaches over 30 students of various ages to continue this traditional art form.

Sridharini Sridharan started dancing at the age of 7, under the able of guidance of Guru Smt. Revathi Ramachandran and had her “arangetram” (a debut performance that symbolizes the end of her apprenticeship and the beginning of her professional mastery) at the age of 12 in the presence of the doyen of Bharatanatyam - Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam. Having been formally trained in Nattuvangam -the art of playing the cymbals & Carnatic music - south Indian classical music for over 25 years, she has provided accompaniment to many performances as a member of the Orchestra and holds a lower-grade Diploma in Carnatic music & a higher-grade Diploma in Bharatanatyam with distinction. Sridharan was fortunate to undergo training in Poorna Vidya, an initiative of His holiness, Pujya Swami Dayananda Saraswathi to pass on the rich cultural heritage to future generations. Sridharan has had numerous opportunities to perform extensively as a solo artist and as an active participant in lead roles in the dance ballets conceptualized by her teacher. These performances include ones such as the many renowned art festivals in India, Music Academy‘s Spirit of Unity series, and as a member of her teacher’s troupe traveled across Europe and the US for performances, and performed for many art festivals of cultural importance such as the incredible India festival in France. Sridharan founded her dance school, Kalashiksha, in Hillsboro, Oregon in 2016, where she teaches over 30 students of various ages to continue this traditional art form.
